Carnival Firework/Light Show (WIP)
This project was 4 weeks from design, research, and creation. This is my first fully dynamic animation project.
Scene contains 2 dynamic rigs: Carnival Swings, and Ferris Wheel which were animated to move in the most realistic way possible using Maya MEL expressions, constraints, and controllers. But keeping it as simple as possible knowing that they are not the main feature of the completed scene and making them move too complexly would be out of scope. I firstly modelled each ride, before adding joints to the model. Rigid skinning made this rig super easy to create. The animation expressions were a lot harder and required more research.
Using Maya attributes, set driven keys, and Maya Hypershade, I was able to create specific textures to be mapped to a number within the Maya attributes I set to change the colour of the lights and whether they were on or off on the Rides. I would like to find music to key the lights to and create a light show.
Fireworks were created in Blender using particle emitters and life time. After rendering they were added to the scene in Post Production.
Future Plans: Increasing the light emitted from the show, as well as just more lights in general to the scene is necessary. I want to create more movement in the foreground of the scene with soft wind waving grass and the lanterns, I will most likely move the foreground out of the scene and add it back during Video editing. There were also a few things I realised would've worked better and make the animation progress easier overall, especially concerning the Ferris Wheel which was the first time I had ever worked on something like this before.
Original Design
Changed for the actual project to be 16:9 vs the plan being square.
